This group started in January 2020 by a very small group of people who had never read their Bible all the way through before and wanted to do so - but needed accountability from fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
Those who began the group decided to use a reading schedule developed by Dr. Ray Mondragon of Chafer Theological Seminary. His schedule is strategically set up as a weekly schedule, to give the reader freedom as to how he or she wishes to divide up the reading throughout the week. This is much more fool-proof than a daily schedule, since adhering to a daily schedule and failing to read even one day can feel like a major setback.
This schedule does not take the reader in order from Genesis to Revelation, but instead takes the reader through entire books, and includes a little bit of both testaments in each week.
In his own words, here is why Ray developed the schedule the way he did:
“One of the major principles for understanding God’s Word (or any communication) is context, context, context. Reading the entire book gives one the context for any passage in each of the individual books. It also gives one the context of all the individual books for the whole Bible. I arranged the reading plan so the believer can get readings from the different major sections of the Bible each week (historical then prophetic books, Psalms, other poetic books, NT historical books, and the letters and then Revelation) rather than only reading from start to finish.”
